
Sugar Syrup
Sugar syrup or as we call it "Ater" is a sweet liquid used in many Middle Eastern desserts. It's simply made by boiling sugar and water together. This syrup is often poured over desserts like baklava, Ashta cream, Atayef and many others to add sweetness and moisture.

Combine Ingredients:
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water.1 Cup Sugar, ½ Cup Water

Heat the Syrup:
- Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Do not stir.
Add Flavorings:
- Once the sugar has dissolved, add lemon juice, rose water, and orange blossom water.1 Tbsp Lemon Juice, 1 Tbsp Rose Water, 1 Tbsp Blossom Water

Simmer:
- Bring the syrup to a gentle boil and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
Cool and Store:
- Remove the syrup from the heat and let it cool completely before transferring it to a clean, airtight jar or bottle.

Notes
- Sugar Syrup can also be used as an ingredient during preparation of other Lebanese, Arabic sweets, or creme au beurre.
- Keep your sugar syrup in a dry place.
