Homemade Peanut Butter

Tired of store-bought peanut butter with added sugars and oils? Get ready to experience the pure, unadulterated goodness of homemade peanut butter!
It's unbelievably easy to make with just one (yes, ONE!) main ingredient, a food processor, and a little bit of patience. The result? A rich, creamy, incredibly flavorful spread that's perfect for everything from sandwiches to smoothies, or simply by the spoonful!
At its simplest, homemade peanut butter is just peanuts. That's it! When roasted peanuts are blended in a food processor, their natural oils are released, transforming them into a smooth, luscious, and incredibly satisfying butter. You have full control over the texture – from super smooth to delightfully chunky – and you can customize the flavor with a pinch of salt or a hint of sweetness.
The mixture will be chunky at first. Then, it'll thicken into a ball, and finally, it will become creamy and smooth. The whole process should take about 8 to 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 200 G Dry Peanuts Roasted & salted or Unsalted
  • Pinch Salt Optional
  • 1 Tsp Maple Syrup Optional
  • 1 Tsp Sugar Optional

Equipment

  • 1 Food Processor

Instructions

Roast Peanuts (if not pre-roasted):
  1. If using raw peanuts, preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F). Spread peanuts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Roast for 10-15 minutes, stirring halfway, until fragrant and lightly golden. Let cool completely. (This step brings out the best flavor!)
Process the Peanuts:
  1. Place the roasted (and cooled) peanuts in the bowl of a sturdy medium or large food processor.
  2. Begin processing. At first, the peanuts will turn into coarse crumbs.
  3. Continue processing. The crumbs will then clump together into a paste.
  4. Keep processing! The paste will eventually become a thick, sticky ball, then suddenly, the natural oils will release, and it will magically transform into a smooth, creamy, and pourable butter.
Scrape and Rest (as needed):
  1. As you process, you'll need to stop the food processor every 30 seconds to 1 minute to scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula. This ensures all the peanuts are evenly processed.
  2. If your food processor's motor seems to be working hard or getting hot, give it a short break (30 seconds to 1 minute) to prevent overheating. This entire process can take anywhere from 3 to 8 minutes, depending on your food processor's power.
Add Optional Seasonings (if desired):
  1. Once the peanut butter has reached your desired smooth consistency, you can add any optional ingredients like salt, honey, maple syrup, or sugar.
  2. Process for another 15-30 seconds to fully incorporate the seasonings.
  3. If your peanut butter is exceptionally thick and not moving, you can add 1-2 teaspoons of neutral oil, but try to avoid it as the peanuts usually release enough of their own.
