  • 1 Cup Orange Juice
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • ½ Cup Sesame seeds (+/-) Optional

Equipment

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Baking tray

Instructions

Combine the Dry Ingredients:
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground anise, ground nutmeg, and baking powder.
5 Cups Flour, 2 Tsp Anise Ground or Grain, ½ Tsp Nutmeg, 2 Tbsp Baking Powder
  2. Add the granulated sugar to the bowl and whisk again until evenly combined with the other dry ingredients.
    1 Cup Sugar
Add the Wet Ingredients:
  1. Pour the orange juice into the bowl with the dry ingredients.
    1 Cup Orange Juice
  2. Begin mixing the ingredients together with a spatula or wooden spoon until a shaggy dough starts to form.
Incorporate the Oil:
  1. Gradually add the vegetable oil to the batter, mixing well after each addition.
    1 Cup Vegetable OIl
  2. Continue mixing until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined and a smooth, cohesive dough forms. The dough should be soft but not overly sticky.
  3. If needed you can add some flour to get needed consistency. Start by adding 1 table spoon at a time and mix well.
Shape the Cookies:
  1. Take small portions of the dough and shape them into rings or any other desired shape (e.g., balls, twists).
  2. Coat the cookies in sesame seeds if desired, and press gently.
    ½ Cup Sesame seeds (+/-)
  3. Place the shaped cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. The parchment paper will prevent sticking.
Bake:
  1. Preheat your oven to [Specify Temperature, e.g., 350°F (175°C)].
  2. Place the baking tray with the cookies in the preheated oven.
  3. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown and the centers appear set. The exact baking time may vary depending on your oven and the size of the cookies.
Cool and Serve:
  1. Once the cookies are golden brown, remove the baking tray from the oven.
  2. Carefully transfer the cookies to a wire rack and leave them to cool completely before serving. This allows them to firm up and develop their final texture.
